Managing Song Variants

Edited 2026-04-09

A Variant in Heho is a specific musical direction tied to a fixed set of lyrics. Variants allow you to experiment with different Suno tags, genres, and moods without changing your original words.

The 3-Step Studio Workflow

Every variant moves through three distinct stages, tracked by the Three-dot indicator in the sidebar:

  1. Lyrics (Purple): Drafting and refining the text.
  2. Sunofy (Amber): Optimizing tags and style for AI music generation.
  3. Publish (Emerald): Generating marketing assets and video plans.

Creating and managing variants

  • New Variant: Click the + New Variant button in the sidebar. You can start from blank, use a preset, or let AI suggest a direction.
  • Duplicate: If you like a variant but want to try a small tweak, use the Duplicate option in the variant's menu.
  • Rename: Keep your workspace organized by giving each variant a descriptive name (e.g., "90s Grunge Mix" or "Acoustic Ballad").
  • Star Rating: Rate your variants to keep track of which directions are working best.

Locking Lyrics (Snapshots)

To ensure consistency across variants, Heho uses Snapshots.

  1. When your lyrics are ready, click Lock in the Sunofy tab.
  2. This creates a "frozen" version of the lyrics that all variants under that snapshot will use.
  3. If you edit the lyrics later, you can lock a New snapshot, which allows you to keep your old variants tied to the old lyrics while starting fresh variants for the new ones.
